Character Descriptions

Male. A man whose great wealth has turned his heart to stone. Deaf to the needs of his fellow men, Scrooge must journey through his past to regain the spirit of charity and kindness he had as a young man. Must sing extremely well

A hardworking clerk in Scrooge’s employment. Dedicated to his family, especially his young son Tiny Tim. Cratchit maintains a kind heart, even in the face of Scrooge's mean-spiritedness. Sings

Must be able to move gracefully. Joyful, comedic guide to Scrooge into his past. Cheerfulness and kindness are this characters dominant traits, and maybe a little zany. Very energetic. Must Sing.

Must be able to move. A larger than life, jovial character who shows Scrooge the present world around him. Very vaudeville. Must sing.

A fearful specter of the future, preferably able to belt with a strong mix. Must be able to move in a contemporary style. Creepy and eerie, yet captivating every time they are on stage.

Warm and compassionate, Scrooge 's nephew, feels sorry for the old man, yet still obligated to him, being family

Must be able to move. The spirit of Scrooge's old business partner. Returned from the grave to warn Scrooge of the consequences of living the life of a miser. Good comedic timing. Must sing well.

The young son of Bob Cratchit. Weak and crippled, but full of true goodness and hope. More than anyone, Tiny Tim embodies the Christmas Spirit.

Must be able to move. A jolly man. A kind-hearted bank-owner who helps Ebenezer Scrooge get his start. Later, must ask Scrooge for help and is turned away. Must Sing.

Must be able to move. The cheerful wife of Mr. Fezziwig the banker. Happy to reach out and help her fellow man. Later, becomes poor and can't understand why Scrooge won't help her husband. Fun and sassy. Must Sing.

Wife of Bob Cratchit. Mother to Tiny Tim, Martha, and the other Cratchit children. Loving, hopeful, and generous. Sings.

(aged from 18-35) Must be able to move. Saving his money and running from a life of poverty, Young Ebenezer is still happy and sociable and deeply in love with Emily. He is still searching for a place to call home, but has found a second family in the Fezziwigs. Must sing extremely well.

Must be able to move. Starts business with Young Ebenezer and shares a similar mindset of greed.

Must be able to move.Young, lovely, and goodhearted. Truly in love with young Ebenezer. Happy with the simple things in life - friends, family, and the joy that comes from loving someone and being loved in return. Must sing extremely well.

Recently widowed and left with a young daughter, Grace. Hopes Scrooge will be lenient and give him time to pay his debt. Respectable, but poor.

The young daughter of Mr. Smythe. Accompanies her father to ask Scrooge for leniency following her mother's death. Respectable, but poor. Must sing well

The wife of Scrooge's nephew Fred. Tired of having "Uncle Scrooge" over for Christmas dinner each year.

Daughter of Bob & Mrs. Cratchit, sister to Tiny Tim.

A poor orphan who works all day at a bootmaking factory. Tired of poverty, he vows to save his money and make his fortune. He desperately misses his parents and wants to find a home of his own.

A ragpicker who scavenges off the dead.

(ages 7-12) Fun street urchin. Comedic.

A large ensemble of all ages, from which smaller roles will be cast such as: Judge, The Beadle, Scrooge at 8, Scrooge's father, Scrooge's mother, Mr. Hawkins, Fan at 10, townspeople, factory workers, gravediggers, etc.
